Cost Model
Elective and Diagnostic Centres

Designing the UK's community diagnostic centres

Community elective and diagnostic centres are being rolled out across England to help cut waiting lists, provide value for taxpayers and decarbonise the NHS.

In our latest article, Chris Greening and Jason Pearson discuss how achieving all three is a complex balancing act. They accompany this with a cost model that examines the costs of a typical new build three-storey diagnostic centre.

Diagnostics are increasingly moving into separate buildings to meet the needs of ageing and less mobile populations. This is also done to achieve a key part of the NHS Long Term Plan, which includes the goal to deliver more care outside of major acute hospitals.

Key topics covered are:

  • Design considerations
  • Achieving net zero
  • Current market influences in the sector
  • Future predictions
  • Cost considerations
